I love your videos, but forgive my honesty - the host has such a voice that it's almost unbearable to listen to. He speaks monotonously and mumbles. One of the weaker videos.
Nice pice of knowledge. Is there way to provision rke2 cluster on our private VM not in cloud provider using Rancher API ? I would like to achive it using Terraform and possibly Ansible but I cant find right guidelines. Any kind of help will be appriciate
If anyone is facing issue in their extension not being detected after adding the repo, the problem might be with the annotations of index.yaml of the extension( the one in the gh-pages). to fix it clean the gh-pages branch, delete the tag and edit the package.json in pkg/<extension name> and push. Make sure to refresh your repo in rancher after the gh action is completed
For those who didn't get it, Tldr: Rancher is a nice administrative GUI for kubernetes
This man is the best Kubernetes Instructor I have ever come across.
I NEED to know where I can get one of these shirts!
Can't fleet watch the image registry, instead of configuring all these steps to make github actions change the chart files?
Großartig.
Danke
where update version 2.8.2???????? please
It's in the works.
That was really helpful, thanks!
35:17 DHCP feature. I installed Harvester v1.3.0 on my server with one Ethernet port, and the network configuration is very confusing: by default VM will be in the Cluster Management Network, which can't communicate with anything outside cluster. Ok, you'll want create new cluster network? Will not work, because you can't create cluster network with one Ethernet port. Ok, let's create VM Network: you'll need to know special values to use, which will work, use DHCP, and after that UI will show "DHCP failed", but that "normal". And may then it will work...
The repo is not there?
Even when I watch in 1080p, it still hard to read some letters. Please either use higher resolution for streaming, or lower resolution on the demo system.
Noted thank you.
Those analogies with how the kitchen works and how to cook? Oooohh quite eeky, I'm telling myself all the time "aaand the main concept here is AKS and Key Vault, nothing about carrots : [] ".
Why use Kubernetes? Why not show a demo for the simplest possible way to spin up a wasm app, analogous to spinning up a docker container?
Heya, that's a great question! There are two major reasons for this: 1. The value prop of a Wasm module is its capability to run anywhere - whether in a VM, on a desktop, in a browser, in Kubernetes, or on the edge. This is what we wanted to emphasize with us using the bundled k3s. 2. Rancher Desktop does support the other use case that you asked about - running a Wasm module using the inbuilt dockerd/moby runtime. Unfortunately, containerd is yet to receive that support because of the nerdctl bug.
Did you try Rancher desktop with metallb load balancer? Very difficult 😢 . Expose service

the vApp and network protocol profile is almost perfect, except we are transitioning to a dual stack deployment. And to my knowledge, a vapp deployment is either ipv4 or ipv6. Someone got ideas for dual stack?
Not bad content. Only the presenter keeps going off on tangent all the time. Stick to the point man.
Over-engineering for such a simple problem.
Amazing presentation wow 🙌 thanks a lot
Hello can you please provide link to recording of the second part? I can't find it.
Thanks for video :). For Turkish guys: Arkadaşlar bu güzel bir araç fakat kurulumu biraz zorluyor. :)
60 second summary 1:30
Cut your hair
No! 😮
I don't understand why this solution can't be integrated with node drivers. Why should i manually create vms everytime
Dear David & Fransesco... I must say This is a great effort. I did succeed in creating 3 master / 3 Worker Cluster on 3 Intel NUCs / Proxmox (24 CPU/192 GB RAM), using this methodology, . Despite having used plain jane k8s / talos / k0s etc in the past , I do love the way you have gone about it. You have a winner in Micro OS. I would only request you not to abandon this effort, and push timely updates. For example, I am at micro os 5.4 / k8s 1.26...AT this point in time, a couple of more videos on Day2 to Day x operations would not be out of place. Also continuous update would encourage users to try out as well as switch.
Not heard much about Harvester for quite a while, so good to see its gettng some TLC.. Would love to see some engagement with the Homelab communities, there is a lot of opportunity coming, as the broadcom aquisition of VMWare is causing concerns (especially as decisions are being made and executed with little consultation, latest being the Fling portal being nuked)... So people will be much more open to finding alternatives.
Is Epinio suitable for larger projects? As an example, we have a Git repo with a wide variety of code in multiple languages. The app consists of a few containers and databases. Dockerfiles and Docker-Compose are used for local testing, and a Helm chart is embedded for deployment. We're using a Gitlab CI/CD pipeline, but I'm wondering if Epinio could simplify something a bit.
I don't think we know it will work with your setup. Might be something you can test out?
Great project. Cloud Foundry experience on Kubernetes and it is open source! Hope to attend a live meetup next time!
Does Harvester supports SAN?
Longhorn, another one of SUSE's projects, serves as the SAN.
@divyamohan493 Thanks for response. External SAN suppored by Harvester?(e.g. Dell, Hitachi, HPE etc.)
yes,but need to install csi driver in harvester ,and external san storage can only be used in VM none root partition @@mskobal
You are really good at what you do.
Best explanation of Kubernetes on the web,. Thank you!
I dont seem to have build-pkg or serve-pkgs commands in yarn; I am using yarn 1.22.19 Can you please let me what is the yarn version to use. #:~/my-app$ node -v v16.20.2 #:~/my-app$ yarn -v 1.22.19 #:~/my-app$ npm -v 8.19.4
Here's our new gitops tool. Proceeds to click around in the UI.
Really a well done deep dive demo. Many Thanks.
What happend with the repo ?
with two words "bull" "shit" 🤣
Gotts to find that sweet spot
Hi, Does rancher support cri-o container run time
a comprehensive intro with joyful tone, thanks :)
After watching for about 40 minutes I did not find that I was understanding what Rancher is for. I think understand what Kubernetes does, but if somebody asked me to say what Rancher does, I could not reply. Even reading what the rancher website says doesn't help me.
I really dont understand how the cloud-init at 23:42 is supposed to work
Good intro, but old. The UI in Rancher 2.6+ doesn't have certain features such as "Assign to... at @19:40 which means the lesson is a non-starter. This needs to be re-recorded to match the modern UI.
